Healing Forest
I took a walk down one of the park connectors in Singapore yesterday. Park connectors in Singapore connect one major park to another, forming a network of green belts throughout the city-state. With Singapore being a very small island, it is a challenge for the government to ensure effective usage of lands and at the same time preservation of nature. We have sacrificed many forested areas for the sake of urban developments but we are also committed to also blend nature into our living space so as to be connected with the whole ecosystem. As I was taking my usual path when I suddenly felt called to divert into a different path. This is a new development to the park connector which I have yet to ventured into. I heeded the call and walked into the new path. I had a pleasant surprise. As I walked deeper into this new route (or at least for me its new) I discovered a paradise of garden which has been thoughtfully designed to give people a space for forest-mindfulness. I took a moment to do my sit spot there and spent some time with the vegetations there. Within the space you can find plants that produce natural aromatic smells that really ease the minds and the souls. I took a moment to breath in those fragrance. It was totally therapeutic for me. And they named this place The Healing Forest. I could totally feel the whole intention of whoever designed this place. The intention to provide a place of healing and wholeness for the park goers.
I was for a moment for thankful for the National Park in Singapore who has thoughtfully embraced the whole forest healing concept in their green development of the island. The best thing is, all these are so within reach by residents. As a forest therapy guide, this is a pearl of great price that I have discovered and the interesting thing is that I was called into this by nature itself. I really needed this yesterday and needed the healing touch and breath from nature. I felt so refreshed and rejuvenated after the walk yesterday. I would like to invite you to join me in this journey and if you happen to be in Bangkok or Singapore, buzz me and let me guide you to the liminal space where you can connect with nature.
